Portugal and Mexico shine at Red Bull Four 2 Score World Final in Salzburg
The tournament kicked off on Saturday at the Red Bull Academy, where teams battled through an intense Group Stage, showcasing high-speed, attacking football in 10-minute games with a unique twist – no goalkeeper, no breaks, and double goals in the first and last minute.
The Portugal women’s team triumphed over Germany (2-0), while Mexico's mixed team secured victory after a breathtaking sudden death final with a 5-4 win over Sean Garnier’s Global Ballers. French freestyle football legend Séan Garnier and his team brought their signature flair and creativity to the tournament, finishing in second place.
From the Teams:
“We lost our first match in the group stage – that was a real wake-up call,” explained Portugal’s Claudia Mendinhas. “From then on, we kept improving and really found our flow. Lifting the trophy in the end was an incredibly beautiful moment – especially because there were so many strong teams competing.”
“Representing my country at an event like this is one of the greatest satisfactions an athlete can experience,” said Eder Ivan Giorgana Hernandez from the Mexican winners team. “Of course, we were nervous, but that’s exactly what pushes a team to give their best. The final was incredibly intense. With the energy of the crowd and a bit of luck at the decisive moment, we made it. After the winning goal, there was no stopping us. I am incredibly grateful for this victory.”
The level and quality of the matches were truly outstanding – especially in the women’s competition, where the skill and intensity were remarkable. The atmosphere throughout the event was full of energy and positivity, creating a great vibe both on and off the pitch. As one team beautifully put it: “We may all speak different languages, but there’s one language we share – and that’s football.”
The excitement then moved to the Kapitelplatz for the grand finale on Sunday, where fans were treated to an unforgettable show: Tom Öhler amazed the crowd with a live bike show, and a spectacular dance performance added to the festive atmosphere.
Andreas Ulmer Impressed:
“A really cool event – the atmosphere is fantastic and the level of play is impressive. It’s great to see teams coming together here to celebrate football. Of course, we’re especially rooting for the Austrian players – but in the end, it’s really all about the joy of the game, creativity, and everything that’s possible with a ball. Seeing that truly warms every football fan’s heart.“
Champions Crowned in Style
The tournament’s grand finale concluded with an award ceremony during halftime of the Bundesliga clash FC Red Bull Salzburg vs. Rapid Wien, in front of thousands of fans. Stefan Reiter, Managing Director FC Red Bull Salzburg and Rouven Schröder, Managing Director Sports FC Red Bull Salzburg, presented the well-deserved prizes to the winning teams amidst a cheering crowd.
In addition to the team trophies, the tournament also celebrated individual excellence. The five standout players of the event were honored as the Red Bull Four 2 Score All Star Team presented by Hervis, recognizing their exceptional skill, creativity, and impact on the pitch throughout the competition.
With Salzburg delivering an unforgettable edition, all eyes now turn to the future. The next Red Bull Four 2 Score World Final is already on the horizon — in Canada, 2026 — where the world’s best will once again battle for glory.
